Resto T4 Set Bonus

What I love from my resto druid, is being able to out heal everyone due to mana efficiency. True I’m not raiding anything past the T4 Content (I’m doing but I am usually the only healer without having mana problem. Would I remove my T4 bonus? not likely, I don’t see why I would do that at my level tho. I prefer slightly lower healing bonus for better mana regen then the other way around.
In the end… it’s up to you. Are you satisfied with the new gear? Can you live going OOM slightly faster for bigger heals? That’s what count !Well, from the gear I’ve just switched around w/o using t4 I have noticed my mp5 is roughly 40-50 lower than before and I seem to go oom a little faster, but I have gone from 1700 some odd heals to 1901 so I suppose the higher healing is better.-

It varies between 10 and 25 Mp5 depending on how lucky you are.
So no, 100 +Healing is better.-This is my Druid, there are many like him, but this one is mine.Is the 2 piece set bonus really all that good? I see it proc every once in awhile when I’m wearing my but I just picked up my SSO badge leggings that have 2 gem slots and the mitts of the tree mender. I’ve effectively raised my +healing by 100, but is it worth the cost of the set bonus?-

Levelingspeed and a few other things..

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

Wow, that’s a lot of questions.
Spec is really up to you and what you enjoy more. I found feral to be very efficient and great for leveling. Not much downtime required between fights. But, I planned all along on being feral at 70, so I never went any other route. I can’t compare it to Boomkin.
Travel form is one speed (40) and it doesn’t get upgraded. Land mounts are always faster. Regular mount is 60, epic mount is 100.
As for what to do at 70, it’s really up to you. Tanks and healers are always in demand. Boomkins are somewhat maligned, but a lot depends on gear and the player. Don’t plan on cake and oreos. No class/spec really gets both…there’s always trade-offs. Pick a role that you think you’ll enjoy and try it out.
What is best to level beyond 40? Stay feral, or switch to moonkin? I hear quite a few back and forth discussions on this and the only thing i get is “depends on your style”. My style is for which ever one kills fastest with minimal downtime.
Also as druids does our travel form have the same speed as commensurate mounts? It seems my current travel form is as fast or faster then my mount? Will this apply to level 60 when its time to get the epic? Do i get a faster/improved travel form? I am currently 34 and feral spec’d.
Lastly, @ 70 which of the 3 talent trees will get me into more while somewhat preserving my digity with decent DPS? Now if i have to forego my DPS to get into a group so be it, but if i can have some cake with oreos instead of just cake then ..sweet.
I hear alot of back and forth about gear @ 70 and PvP, what gives?
By the way …droods are definately a kick ass class, just in case some had a doubt. This will probably become my main toon as it is limitless.

Right now self buffed in bear I’m at 25k health, ~26k armor, and the previously mentioned 30 dodge. That’s still with mostly level 70 epics. The upgrades are coming faster now, however, and with those will likely come a drop in my dodge…the lowest it can currently go appears to be down to 27 if I dropped my dodge rating altogether. Reviewing gear options going forward, I’m not seeing a whole lot that would contribute more to my dodge percent. If we’re talking about a goal of 40 dodge at some point in WotLK, that works out to an additional 400 dodge rating (give or take) and with the exception of accessories, there is almost no dodge rating on gear at all. The only option for more dodge will come from gems/enchants, and even then it’ll be an enormous stretch.-In Soviet Eorzea, Beehive Chips sell YOU!!
My ZAM Journal featuring my 2010 Custom PC Build BlogNaxx is entry-level raiding. If we could get 40+ Dodge for Naxx, where would we be by by the time we fight Arthas? 60? 70? Like Kara in TBC,I’d expect 30 dodge going into Naxx. Also, if you’re a NE, the racial has changed from increased dodge to increased chance to be missed.I am still leveling but I recall a blue post stating Naxx is the new Kara.
Do you have enough health and armor for Naxx/heroics?
Did you have 40-50 dodge going into Kara?
Or are you spoiled by tBC end game gear?
-Day light savings is for fools.
Reviewing gear to get ready for Naxx/heroics, I notice one thing missing…dodge rating. Right now my bear has ~30 dodge…just over 3 of that is coming from just over 120 dodge (very roughly) 40 dodge rating = 1 dodge. Except…I can’t see how a feral could possibly stack enough dodge to reach previous avoidance stats.
Is it no longer quite so necessary to be able to reach 40-50 dodge, or have I missed something big?

Blue post: armor and AP on weapons change

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Ghostcrawler (blue Blizzard poster for the ones who do not know him wrote:
This is an update to my previous post on Feral armor changes.
ARMOR
As previously announced, we are changing the way bear armor works so that bonus armor on items does not receive the bear armor multiplier. Specifically this means that weapons, trinkets, rings, necks and cloaks with bonus armor will not be multiplied by the bear bonus. Only cloth and leather will benefit from the Bear and Dire Bear multiplier.
We are compensating Ferals for this armor loss by improving the Survival of the Fittest talent. In addition to its current effects (stats and crit prevention), it will now also increase armor contribution from cloth and leather items by 22/33/66. That should be very close to your current armor bonus. This makes Survival of the Fittest rather over-budget by talent standards, but we figured it was one talent we can be pretty certain most tank-oriented druids will have (and to be honest nearly all Ferals).
FERAL ATTACK POWER
We are no longer going to have weapons in the game which improve feral attack power. Instead, your attack power will scale based on the dps of the item. Practically speaking this means almost no change for any gear you currently use — you should not see your dps change. What it does mean is that we can create the occasional dps staff that could be used by druids or hunters (or very undergeared warriors), and that Ferals may occasionaly use two-handed dps maces. We are going to convert all existing Feral staves over to this new system (but again, you should not notice any change to your dps). We are also adjusting the UI so that when druids look at these weapons, you will see what the improvement will be to your damage in forms. This does not mean we are no longer going to create bear and cat weapons, just that those weapons will be slightly less niche than they are now.
These changes will be in place in the next patch. This patch will ship sometime before the 3.1 major content patch featuring the Ulduar raid.

On first glance this sounds huge in terms of scaling! Any thoughts that might spoil my euforism? (spelling?)
- Armor budget on items can be spent elsewhere now that talents compensate for the loss of armor bonus on items… meaning more stamina or attack power or crit rating or whatever.
- No more fixed +AP on weapons means that the more we progress into endgame (read: finding higher dps maces/staves), the more gain we get AP-wise. Scaling is always always better than non-scaling.
Very curious how everything looks when the patch comes, numberwise…

Edit: forgot to elaborate.

All-around Balance build?

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Intensity is really point for point a better mana regen talent, especially with the upcoming changes its receiving in 3.1. It will be changed to 50 mana regeneration while casting up from 30.
But if mana regen is a problem, take those last 4 points and put them into Dreamstate and the other point in wherever.-
Arex ~ Druid ? Ciant ~ Paladin
Awesome, thanks.
One thing I noticed is that you used 3 points in Intensity, I put those 3 in Dreamstate, before I switched it around just now, but is it really that much better? This is a pretty basic build you can use.
It allows you 4 points to pretty much put wherever. If you want pvp, try putting it into Owlkin Frenzy, you want more pve put it into Gale Winds or one of the Imp talents.
You’re mana regen won’t suck so you won’t feel nerfed in 5 mans, and for pvp you’ve got typhoon which pretty much is your 1 “Saved My Ass!” spell.-
Arex ~ Druid ? Ciant ~ Paladin
Hi everyone.
I was just looking for a balance build that isn’t just for PvP or just for PvE, as I like to do both, but I can’t find a balance build that’s really good for that. If anyone has any advice/ builds, I’d be very greatful
p.s.- sorry if this has been asked before, I’m new to these forums! (first post here :p)Dual Boomkin can work.

Okay, this is getting silly halp!!

Thursday, March 25th, 2010

So, I’ve been picking up some tanking gear and stuff along the road and I noticed today that some of my stats are totally messed up, especially my hit rating.
I roll with two different sets, one with more avoidance and one with more health. Removing some avoidance proved to be excellent when doing heroics because otherwise I’ll dodge too much and lose rage. Anyway, some stats (unfluffed and in bear form):
Raid gear
37,222 health
26,980 armor
38.75 dodge
40 expertise
350 hit rating (!)
Heroic gear
39,752 health
36.98 dodge
Rest of the stats are the same.
Notice something out of place here? Like, hit rating? 350? Really?
I haven’t been actively searching for hit rating, it’s just something that seems to be on every single tank item right now. Also, my health seems to be quite good for our current content (ToC10 Norm), so I’ve been working towards getting more dodge rating. I’ve been thinking about ditching the necklace for the DPS one. It would buff my armor, my crit rating and my dodge rating and the cost of some attack power and health (and defense).
With the DPS necklace (the agi/stam one), I get the following in my raid gear:
36,842 health
27,116 armor
38.85 dodge
308 hit rating
Expertise is the same and I get a slight increase in crit rating (0.82) which is more rage, more TPS and more Savage Defense procs.
I’m really at a loss here. What should I be focusing on more? Getting my dodge up there or my health sorted?
I’ve successfully off-tanked ToC10 normal and Ony25 with the current raid gear. And I blow through heroics in my heroic gear. -Der boede en pige i ?ens stride str?m

Running BC instancesa review

Wednesday, March 24th, 2010

So back when BC first came out I had a Hunter that I burned through BC with in anticipation of raiding. Gearing myself through Heroics and running some dungeons (Shadow Labyrinth, yuck) like 100 times for the Sonic Spear and found myself loving the experience. It was a challenge, a feat of Heroism to get througfh some of them without a death or tragedy of some kind and getting through a Heroic instance was sometimes tougher than a raid, as even when some raid geared groups would go in and do Slave Pens, Shattered Halls, Shadow Lab or get destroyed. The dungeons in BC were tough, fun, challenging and required skill and experience with the dungeons and your character to get through.
Enter the Lich King, where all forms of CC are thrown by the wayside in favor of AoE tanking, which makes it a breeze to run through every instance in Northrend providing your tank is geared well enough and doesn’t have his head so far up his butt that he can’t remember to hit the taunt button when something gets away from him (or her), and your healer is equally capable and geared enough (or just not retarded).
So yesterday I get into a few groups with my Healing Druid, one in Auchenai Crypts, one in Mana Tombs and one in Sethekk Halls. Crypts was workable, not a breeze, but not pulling teeth either, tank was good enough to keep the guys off of me most of the time, but the DPS were overgeared for the place and were therefore requiring more healing than the tank…but I’m a good healer and kept everyone alive through the whole thing just fine and asked that the lead DPS wait like 3 seconds before blowing everything up and went fine.
Mana Tombs was a little worse with a stupid tank but smart DPS, so things went really slow, no wipes, but I kept grabbing threat because we weren’t killing things fast enough and had to use quite a few Regrowths and multi stack Lifeblooms on top of Rejuv, Wildgrowth and Swiftmend to keep everyone topped off and the tank alive. I died once in a bad pull, but I was Soulstoned so it wasn’t a big deal, Rez, Barkskin, NS+ HT the tank and then Tranquility to salvage the fight. No other issues.
Sethekk Halls was a distaster, 3 wipes, at the same pull because people don’t understand Focus Firing a target down, 2 in the group leads to me using Innervate every chance I can along with Mana Pots constantly. Unholy DK doesn’t have pet ghoul on passive so he ends up pulling a 3rd group (after an already bad 2 group pull) and wipe us, second time the puller doesn’t get the group pulled back far enough to prevent fear runners from aggroing other groups, I got a Rejuv off on the tank before he gets feared into a group and gets like 4 shotted in the course of 1 second by 10 mobs. Third time is essentially a repeat of the 2nd, with us lasting a bit longer before I pull aggro and die.
Is it just me or did WotLK spoil everyone into easy mode dungeons? Not that I mind really as farming Heroics for badges is pretty easy, but also makes it really easy for every retard on the planet to get in full T9 in about 3 days with very little effort. Anyone else want a throwback to the old days where it actually took skill and a cohesive group to get through Heroics and not just a high enough average gearscore to blow through it? Not saying CC needs to return to the forefront like in BC, just add a little more tactics than “tank gets geared enough to take pounding from 100 guys, send in AoE and DPS them down, heal through damage and move on once everything dies.”

The 45 haste makes up for the fact the hit is useless. But I’d still probably pass on it for a DPS class that needed it.
Enlightenment drops from ToC-10 as well, and may well be better than your combo. Plus you don’t have to fight with the DPS over the +hit thingy. ;-) -NO. You will NOT break the $& shackle! – Jilea

I’m a resto druid for raiding and have the “shriveled heart” offhand. According to Rawr, Lightbane Focus is a huge upgrade for me. Basically since I don’t 25 man, it’s the BIS for offhand in 10 mans (so sayeth Rawr) as our highest progression is TOTC normal.
It dropped last night in TOTC and I rolled highest on it. My guild gave me crap over it because +hit is a waste for healers and assumed it was a DPS offhand. So, caving to peer pressure, I gave it to a mage.
Still, every way I look at it, it was an upgrade for me as the other stats on it are better.
Am I missing something?

Just a thought.unless it was in the beta i haven’t ever heard of it, probably just pulling your tail I’ve heard all over the place that when the game first started there was such things as human hunters. i really dont believe this but i’ve only had the game for the past year and a half while the game’s been out for almost two! can any1 tell me (without using the words stupid or noob because this is just what i heard) if this is true or not?
thanks!

Hunter Race opinions..

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

impossible to answer, but i can give strengths…
Dwarf
1 good with guns, if you like guns.
2 slow poisoned by a rogue? stone skin, gets rid of it, handy too
Night elf
1 shadowmeld, especially good in pvp when flag guarding with a prowling cat, no ones knows you are there
2 1 dodge, eh, its okay, you will be overpowered by warriors 1 more, up to you
Draenei
1 racial heal, awesome, saved me and my pet’s behind on several occasions, although later on it gimps out, its a heal, 3 min cooldown, free
2 1 to hit, very cool, only a 20 yard radius though, so especially with hawkeye, your pet wont be seeing it much in combat but you will, and 1 to hit is nice, better than 1 dodge impo
Orc
1 5 beast damage, wanna go full beast tree? theres an option for ya, a free talent right into it, now that all pets are 2.00 base, it has a bigger effect on the hits than say brokentooth
2 pretty sure its a 25 stun resist, that and going survival, 15 resists to stun and 25, you are looking at an orc thats gonna stay in range cause you cant slow it down
trolls
1 +5 bows, just like the dwarf above
2 berzerker rage im not too sure if this is such a good thing, being crit isnt always a good thing when you are supposed to have a pet being crit for you, and im not a hordie, im a draenei hunter, so ill need backup and this one
anyways thats my piece on it, im sure other people can elaborte and correct me etc etc
but once again, there is no preferred class for a hunter, its what you like, if you play a class becuse it has + guns but you hate being short, you are gonna hate your hunter, be what you like for looks and yull do just fine Yup, gonna bring this subject up. Saw there was a topic on it but it was dated pretty far back and there’s been some updates and new races since then so wanted to get some Hunter’s opinions. Again, I know there is probably a topic about this somewhere but ya know what, I don’t have the time to dig through all these posts and find it.
Anyway, here is the question, in your opinions for the Alliance side, which races makes the best hunter and why? What about the Horde side for races?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts and discussions, oh and please keep it friendly, not looking for a mud slinging contest here. :D I have Humar and and an orange boar from Westfall. I was wanting to make my cat full PvP pet: Claw, Bite, Prowl, and Dash. This will obviously leave Growl out of the setup and may be a real problem in PvE leveling situations. I was wanting to get feed back from Hunters that may have tired this, and would like to know if it is a real annoyance or if it is do-able. Please let me know.
Side note: on my boar I have Growl, Charge, Bite, and Gore. Im not a big fan of gore and was thinking of using Dash instead. Am I underestimating Gore?

Do You Like Hunters? What Talent You Use With Hunter?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

Gota lvl 35 tauren hunter … been really fun so far … first charachter on my first MMO so …. it’s been a learning experience to say the least … I took skinning and leather working as my professions wich has proven to be fairly profitable thus far and fairly useful aswell . Only thing is that I did neglect my leatherworking for a little while and concentrated on quests and getting my level up , I kinda regret that now as , I have spent alot of loot on things I could have made for myself had I kept my leatherworking skill on pace with my leveling .
Pet’s : love this aspect of being a hunter … Took a little while to get the hang of using them without getting into trouble or irratating ohter players (ie : getting too many mobs aggro’d at a time ) This is especially dangerous in a dungeon and I have been advised to keep te pet on passive in target rich enviornments to avoid the pet just charging in and getting monsters all rilled up . I guess the trick is not to get all ecxcited and just send in a pet because you think your gonna kick some serious butt and save the day … Better to use them with discretion then to go off all Rambo . tactics seem to work well . Also pets are great to take damage and tank for you and if things get too hairy … run like hell and let your pet … well … be a pet and take one for the team even if it means they die ,,, they get a little cranky about it but you can just rez them later and throw them a little chunk of meat and its all better … Personally I have a Jaguar and a Bear and I for some reason find it funny to feed them thier own kind … ( feeding bear meat to a bear , am I sick ? )
My talent points were heavilly spent on beast mastery and marksmanship and that sems to be working well for me . Usually I can take down mobs 6-8 lvl’s higher than me , one at a time no sweat and mobs 3-4 lvl’s higher 2 at a time with anly minor damage taken if at all . I think over all the hunter is a very flexible class , perficient in either long ranged damage dealing roles or close ranged melee’s as well . Being one of two hunters in a guild of maybe 15 or so members , I think I fit in nicely … Happy Hunting !
